08 Sep 2010 Newport festival showcases the Ryder Cup legacy

If Colin Montgomerie is looking for inspiration ahead of the Ryder Cup clash with the United States in less than a month, then he could look at a group of youngsters from host city Newport. More than 70 children from across the city took part in a Mini Ryder Cup and Team Europe was victorious against Team USA by 22½ points to 17 – hopefully a good omen ahead of the Celtic Manor contest where the real Team Europe will try to regain the trophy under Monty's captaincy.
