Why support Golf Roots?
The Golf Foundation is challenged with protecting the long-term future of the game by introducing it to a new generation of players through its many junior initiatives. This is done through the delivery of 'Golf Roots'.
Nowadays, children have more choices at a younger age so the Golf Foundation has adopted a more proactive approach to the promotion of golf in schools in order to ‘switch youngsters on’ to golf. This work often goes unnoticed, but it is generating juniors for the programmes run by golf clubs and, therefore, securing a successful future for the sport.
Many club golfers talk of years of enjoyment through playing golf and how the sport helps to develop life skills such as respect, co-operation and self-motivation. We are asking all clubs to support Golf Roots so future generations can discover what a rewarding game it can be.
By making an optional donation of £2 per year, you will be playing a part in promoting the sport to this new generation, ensuring a healthy growth in the game and of golf club members in the future.
Making it work
It is recommended that the £2 donation is included in the annual subscription renewal amount, with members having the opportunity to opt out if they so wish. Through the gift aid scheme, the Golf Foundation can claim 28% on donations from UK taxpayers, allowing even more money to be ploughed into junior golf initiatives.
The administration process is very straightforward and will not impact on golf clubs.
· Simply include opt in/out information on each subscription renewal notice by inserting the following:
