Tri-Golf is a FUN, energetic, version of golf which young children in primary schools can enjoy with their classmates as they hit the target with their first golf shots. Tri-Golf is genuinely inclusive as it suits all abilities; every child can succeed in the games and with the flexibility between individual play and team interaction, it engages well with youngsters who might not want to play a traditional team sport. Tri-Golf promotes ‘Skills for Life’ attributes including co-operation, good sportsmanship and concentration and is designed to be used across curriculum learning.
Specially designed Tri-Golf equipment has proved to be popular with youngsters, affordable for schools, and easy for teachers to use. Resources giving ideas for games and activities linked to the National Curriculum have been produced (available from Davies Sports) and a 2-hour teacher training workshop is available.
• Can be a high-energy game that helps with PE and fitness;
• Actively promotes co-operation and respect among its players, and sportsmanship and good behaviour follows;
• Can be played in a variety of places at school, offering flexibility for PE lessons.
A bag full of adapted equipment is suitable for use in the primary school setting. Included in the bag is a pack of the Tri-Golf activity cards with reference to literacy, numeracy, and life skills that can all support curriculum lessons.
Resources for Teachers and Coaches
All teachers and coaches attending a Tri-Golf training workshop will receive a comprehensive resource manual packed full of useful information including a 6 week KS2 scheme of work, intra and inter competition guides and practical ways to introduce life skills to pupils through Tri-Golf activities.
Designed to support the School Games, the Golf Foundation has created a competition toolkit with all of the games, festival layouts, risk assessments and scorecards required to run a successful Tri-Golf festival or Super Sixes event.
