Captaincy Duo Take Home Fundraising Award After Raising More Than £8,000

The Gus Payne Fundraiser of the Year Award 2026 was presented to Rushcliffe Golf Club at the President’s Awards at Wentworth, where Nick Dougherty hailed their selfless work in supporting junior golf.

The award recognising the tremendous support of Captains Celestine Stafford and Adrian Bexon, along with the club’s members, staff and volunteers.

Through a programme of fundraising including a Charity Open, sponsored tees, raffles and competitions, the club raised an outstanding £8,444 for the Golf Foundation, helping the charity create more opportunities for young people through golf and its mental wellbeing programmes.

“Just look around the room,” Bexon said after collecting the award. “How can you not want to support? We’re very fortunate at our club to be able to access funds from our members, so we wanted to help out where we can. The winners tonight have all been so inspirational, we’re proud to play a small part!”
