Girls Golf Rocks Returns for a Third Year at Fulwell Golf Club
Eight girls, six sessions, and one goodie box too many, Girls Golf Rocks is back at Fulwell
“8 potential superstars in the making. The future of girls golf at Fulwell looks very rosy.”
Girls Golf Rocks has become something of a fixture at Fulwell Golf Club, and this year's programme, its third, brought together eight girls aged six to ten for six sessions of golf, games, and a fair amount of cheekiness. The energy in the group was there from the first session, with the girls described as enthusiastic and full of character from the start.
Running the show this year was Josh, one of the club's young professionals who has just begun his PGA training. He was ably supported by Hannah, a keen junior member of the club who the younger girls quickly took to, looking up to her and loving having her involved. Between them, Josh and Hannah covered all areas of the game across the six weeks, mixing in fun competitions with prizes and a few "mini" holes to keep things playful and age appropriate.
The little extra touches were what made this year's programme stand out. Each girl received a personalised, decorated goodie box filled with golf and girlie themed gifts, which, unsurprisingly, went down very well. As a special treat in the final session, the girls got a ride on the golf cart, sparking a race back to the pro shop for those who had to wait their turn.
At the heart of it all is a simple aim: to make golf as engaging and interactive as possible, and to help girls see the golf club as a fun, safe, and inclusive place to spend their time. If that connection sticks, the club knows exactly what comes next, girls pestering their parents for the next trip up to Fulwell.
With eight more girls now firmly bitten by the golf bug, the future of girls' golf at Fulwell is looking bright.
