A Week Of Impact at the British Masters

The Golf Foundation were delighted to work with DP World Tour and invite key groups to enjoy a special experience at the British Masters at the Belfry this year.

The event, hosted by Sir Nick Faldo, saw the Golf Foundation invite key partners from community groups and junior friendly clubs alike to take part in activity at the course.

On Thursday, a variety of community partners brought 65 youngsters to take part in a festival and enjoy the live golf on course. Three community groups brought juniors from Holiday Activity and Food (HAF) programmes along, with 70% from an ethnically diverse community, while volunteers from DP World Tour helped to support delivery alongside Golf Foundation staff and community partners.

The activation was part of the ongoing work that the Golf Foundation have been delivering in partnership with StreetGames since 2021. Community groups have been offered discounted Golfway equipment, training in the form of a Golfway activators workshop, and were then given the opportunity to attend this exciting community festival at The British Masters.

“The community festivals we have attended have been a hugely positive experience for our young people,” said Haroon Hussein, programmes manager at Pitch 2 Progress. “These juniors would not have played any golf before, let alone been to an event like The British Masters. Thank you for the amazing opportunities and we very much look forward to contuning this relationship.

“It was a fantastic day,” added Tom Sparks from the Golf Foundation. “It’s always one of the most rewarding parts of the role for me, to see our community engagement come to life in this way. The children were so engaged and went away completely enthused and excited by playing golf and the opportunities that were ahead of them at The Belfry for the afternoon.”
