With support from our Regional Development Officers, PGA Coaches are inspiring more girls in schools and welcoming greater numbers to taster sessions and structured coaching back at the club using the Junior Golf Passport.
Teenage girls are enjoying StreetGolf in community projects, Brownies and Guides have started to play the sport, while a growing number of clubs have started to embrace the social side of golf for youngsters, attracting more girls to try the game as part of a group.
A flagship initiative is ‘Girls Golf Rocks’, in partnership with England Golf and the County Associations, providing taster sessions, weekly coaching, and opportunities to play at Par 3 courses. The emphasis is on creating a nucleus of girls playing golf and enabling new participants to join and make friends.
Crucially, each participating club enjoys the help of an established girl golfer who acts as a valued mentor for the new young players. More than 1,800 girls have enjoyed a first taste of golf through Girls Golf Rocks, and this growth is set to continue.
