From The CEO

It is my pleasure to present the Golf Foundation’s Impact Report for April 2022 to March 2023.

Highlights include celebrating our 70th anniversary as a charity, the continued expansion of GolfSixes League across GB&I and into Europe, and the announcement of Nick Dougherty as Golf Foundation President.  The Sky Sports Presenter and Professional Golfer is inspiring the charity to expand its 5-week introductory programme to every school in GB&I with the mental wellbeing of all pupils at its heart.

Against a backdrop of a cost-of-living crisis and warnings of a ‘tsunami’ of mental health issues for young people in post-covid United Kingdom, the Golf Foundation recognises its dual role in helping young people to fulfil their potential and to protect the future of the sport.  We cannot do this without the help of many partner organisations both inside and outside the sport.  Thank you to you all.  Governed by our well respected and diverse Board of Trustees, driven by the ‘can do’ attitude of the organisation’s expert team of staff, we are ready for the next 70 years.

For the second year running, our Impact Report is presented via CANVA as the Golf Foundation continues to embrace the digital era and develop new ways of delivering, measuring and celebrating the mission of introducing golf to young people, from all backgrounds, creating golfers. Inclusivity is at the heart of all of our programmes and from our own evidence and testimonies we know that golf can change lives.

As ever with our small but impactful charity we rely upon the support and goodwill of many supporters and the future is not without its challenges following the announcement by HSBC that they will not be renewing their sponsorship past December 2023. Our partnership of 12 successful years has introduced over 5 million young people to the sport and inspired thousands of lifelong golfers. Thank you to HSBC, we have thoroughly enjoyed the journey with you.

Looking forward, we are indebted to The R&A for committing to a further 4 years of funding and with our new Unleash Your Drive programme headed by Nick Dougherty we are confident of attracting new commercial partners to join us on our next 70 years. I hope that you enjoy reading about our impact for the past 12 months.
