The Bonallack Award is presented to a project that has helped young people to ‘Start, Learn and Stay’ in golf.
The Overstone Park GC Golf Scholarship Programme is a successful project that has created new junior members at the Northamptonshire facility. The project began by introducing 500 children from 5 schools (in disadvantaged communities) to Tri-Golf at school over a 6 week period. Each school was subsequently invited to select 12 young people to progress onto the scholarship programme where they were invited to play with real golf clubs and attend coaching sessions. In little over a year, Overstone Park increased its junior members from 2 to 80 and the scholarship programme has a 95% retention rate.
