Thomas – “The golf course is my favourite place to be!”

We are so pleased 9-year-old Thomas from Stockport got in touch to tell us how happy he is to be back playing golf.

Thomas’s Dad Rob explained that his son had been struggling at times during lockdown, but that his mood improved once he resumed playing golf. According to Rob, after playing a few times at Hazel Grove GC in Stockport, Thomas is now thankfully “back to his old self and is back to focusing on his next shots on the course!”

We asked young golfers to answer 3 questions so we could find out how they feel to be back on the fairways. Here’s what Thomas shared with us:

  1. What have you missed about playing golf? And how does it feel to be back playing?
I’ve missed playing golf with my friends because we normally have a nice laugh. I feel really happy to be back playing on the course as it is my favourite place to be.
  2. What did you most enjoy about your first round back?
My favourite part was when I nearly chipped in on the 13th hole at Hazel Grove Golf Club (where I’m a member). I also enjoyed being back out in the fresh air.
  3. Is there someone you would like to thank for introducing you to golf?
I would like to thank my Dad because when he bought some plastic golf clubs for me when I was two years old I was using them all the time. That is when I fell in love with golf and it is now my favourite sport!

We’d love to hear more stories like Thomas’s. Please follow this link if you would like some inspiration on how to get involved and details on how to contact us.
